Doris Faye Wood Johnson
Doris Faye Wood Johnson was born November 1, 1931, to the late Ervin and Elna Scott Wood. Doris departed this life peacefully on January 2, 2024. Doris’ life was a testimonial to her personal conviction. She modeled all of her attributes in everything she said and did. One of the ways that she became such a woman of God was due to having a mother who taught her these virtues. Doris observed and applied those values in every aspect of her life. First and foremost, she was a woman of God above all else. She was kind, tender, refined, and pure. Doris dedicated her 92 years of life to being a model daughter, sister, mother, friend, and valued member of her community. Doris was an instrumental asset in the building of the Frances Halbrook Hensley Animal Shelter in Lexington, Tn. She was also the oldest member of her beloved church, Palestine Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and held the responsibility of maintaining the Old Bethel Cemetery. Doris was a proud charter member of Eastern Star with a 50- year pin, which is an amazing accomplishment. Doris loved singing gospel music, and many may remember her being a member of a quartet called The Spiritual Tones of the 1970’s. Doris Johnson is survived by her son Jeremy Johnson, her daughter-in-law Christy, and her grandchildren, Maggie and Maddox Johnson. She was preceded in death by her brothers Glaython and J. E. Wood, and her sisters Virginia Brantley and Geneva Stewart. Doris lived a full and memorable life, leaving a beautiful, lasting mark on everyone she touched.
