Elbert Laverne Barnhart passed away January 27th, 2024 in his home in Lexington, TN at the age of 85. He was preceded by his parents Roy and Sybil Barnhart and his daughter-in- law Tina Barnhart. He is survived by his wife Hattie Barnhart, his brother Jess Barnhart, his sisters Joyce and Karen, his children Rick Barnhart, Terry Barnhart, Lester Johnson, Jerri Gail Ortloff, Sandy Dee, Diana Jackson, and Randy Johnson, along with their spouses, as well as a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Barney, also known as “Pops,” was always tinkering with something: his truck, wood projects, his garden, fishing, among many other things. He never met a stranger. He loved to tease, crack jokes, and laugh. He was famous for his BBQ ribs and baked beans, and loved to entertain. He lived his life to the fullest and poured his heart into everything he did. When asked about his “awards and achievements” his exact words were: “I lived a good life with Christ, and I have a great wife.”
