James Patrick Roberts passed away on January 5th, 2026 in Sardis, TN at the age of 75. He was preceded by his parents Dewey F. Roberts & Yvette Roberts, his brother Dr. Rob Roberts and his sister Kathleen Roberts. He is survived by his daughter Victoria Roberts, his grandsons Darrian Corbit and Ashton Cotton, his granddaughter Kyla Cotton, and his great grandson Sebastian Corbit.

He was a Vietnam Vet-Era Veteran who served aboard the USS King. He was also an artist at heart. He loved painting, poetry, and animals. His creative work reached a wider audience through publications with Amherst and American Poetry in 1989 and 1994. He was nominated for a Dickenson Award. He took great pride in his literary accomplishments. He enjoyed the rugged charm of John Wayne films and the timeless music of Willie Nelson; these passions stayed with him throughout his life. He also enjoyed the wit of Mark Twain. ”If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything” – Twain

His memorial visitation will be held at Stanfill Funeral Home & Cremation Saturday January 10, 2026 beginning at 1pm.
