Michael “Doc” Miller

Michael “Doc” Miller, age 70, passed away on October 28, 2025, in Holladay, Tennessee. Born on November 16, 1954, in the same close-knit community he called home throughout his life. As young boy he accompanied his father logging where he would doctor the loggers cuts and injuries earing him the nickname “Doc.”
A skilled mechanic, Doc earned a reputation for his ability to restore engines and vehicles. His shop served not only as a workspace but also as a gathering place where family and friends came together. He had a particular passion for restoring classic cars and trucks, with a special fondness for working on Ford Mustangs—projects that reflected his attention to detail and love of craftsmanship.
Beyond his work with vehicles, Doc spent years diving for freshwater mussels on the Tennessee River. These experiences were more than just labor; they were treasured times shared with loved ones. His daughters recall these river days with deep affection—and are among their most cherished memories.
Doc appreciated the simple pleasures of life. He often found peace sitting by the creek near his home, accompanied by Petey, his loyal dog and constant companion.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jody Miller and Libby Miller; five grandchildren, Jacob Foster, Darcy Key, Lucy Key, Nash Miller, and Magnolia Miller; and three siblings, Jerry Miller, Ricky Miller, and Kathy Goodman. He also leaves behind six nephews: Jason Miller, Brian Miller, Eric Miller, Corey Miller, Steven Miller, and Jonathan Goodman. His nephew Jason was his sidekick. They were often together riding around backroads, talking cars and trucks, and just hanging out.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvil Miller and Alpha Hooten Miller; and his oldest brother, Larry Miller.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on November 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at 329 Charlie Daugherty Road. Friends and family are invited to join Jody and Libby at Doc’s favorite spot—the creekbank at his home—to remember him.
