3/12/1963 – 12/26/2024

Teresa Louise Wood Morris passed away in Lexington on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, at the age of 61, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Teresa was born on March 12th, 1963, to Dennis and Judy Veteto Wood in Lexington TN. After Teresa graduated from Lexington High School in 1982, she studied Cosmetology at McCollum & Ross in Jackson, TN. After working in the cosmetology field, she went back to school to follow in her Grandmother Dartha’s footsteps to be a Nurse. She graduated from Nursing school in 1985 as an LPN. Teresa practiced nursing in Jackson for many years before moving home to Lexington in 1999 when she became the School Nurse at Caywood Elementary. When Lexington Middle School was built, Teresa transferred there to continue her School Nurse duties before retiring in December 2020. If you, your kids, or grandkids attended either Caywood or Lexington Middle it is very likely you were touched by Nurse Morris in some way or another. She loved her job but more importantly she loved the students and touched so many lives along the way! She not only was special to so many students as they grew up through CES and LMS but she also touched the lives of faculty and school personnel throughout the years. She left a legacy…..there will never be another Nurse Morris!

Teresa met Bob Morris through mutual friends and in 1988 they were married. Teresa and Bob had one child, Cody and grandchildren Lemmy Kay and Baker who was loved dearly by their GiGi. Teresa loved God, her family, especially those grand babies, and she loved the beach. She always looked forward to summer vacation trips to Destin, FL every year. She also loved going to the Great Smokey Mountains with Bob. Teresa was a proud member of First Baptist Church in Lexington.

Teresa was preceded by her parents, Dennis and Judy Wood, grandparents Robert Wood and Opal Jowers Wood, and Buddy and Dartha Veteto.

She is survived by her husband Bob Morris, son Cody Morris, grandchildren Lemmy Kay and Baker Morris, brother Greg Wood, sister Cristy (Joe) Baggett, aunt Wanda (Danny) Powers, mother in law Pat Morris, brother in law Mel Morris, brother in law Andy (Charity) Morris, her nephews: Landen (Selena) Baggett, Heath Morris, Noah Morris, and Elijah Morris, her nieces: Hannah Grace Morris, Ellie Joy Morris, and Isabell Morris, along many special cousins from her close knit family.

Her visitation will be held Saturday December 28th, 2024 from 10am-2pm with her celebration of life to follow at Stanfill Funeral Home and Cremation in Lexington. Burial will be at Hare Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Teresa made special requests for donations to be made to St. Jude Cancer Research Hospital or, as she was an avid animal lover, to Frances Halbrook Hensley Animal Shelter in Lexington, TN.
