Sammy D. Wood

Sammy D. Wood passed away the 30th of April 2024 at home at the age of 69. He was preceded by his parents Samuel T. Wood and Maxine H. Wood, his brothers Larry Woods (Becky) and Jerry Wood (Paula), and his sisters Sherron Woods (Randall) and Linda Hays (Dorsey). He is survived by his wife of 46 years Amy Wood, his brothers Rick Wood (Gail), Tim Wood, and John Wood (Etta), his sisters Louise Hays (Tom) and Sue Bobbit (James), his children Jason Wood and Rebecca Bates (Torrance), and grandchildren Tyler Wood, Luke Wood, and Amaya Bates. Mr. Wood had retired from the US Army 10th Group Special Forces and was passionate about his military service. He loved to breed, raise, and show quarter horses on his farm. He enjoyed reading, duck hunting, fishing, and his tractors. He was fond of walking on his farm with his grandchildren. He graduated Cum laude Honors from Union University with a 4.0 GPA, along with being awarded with bronze medallion for political science and history.

His memorial visitation will be held at Central Grove Baptist Church, Tuesday May 7th, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:30pm with his memorial service to follow at 4:30pm.
